Ipswich Canoe Lifeguard Unit is a small group of paddlers within Ipswich Canoe Club who specialise in Canoe Rescue and First-Aid skills. We are affiliated to the National BCU Lifeguards and membership is free to ICC members.

Our members take part in the National Canoe Lifeguard Convention, The National Canoe Lifeguard Championships and numerous Lifeguard covers. These can include Canoeing events, National Open-Water Swims including the Great East Swim, Triathlon’s at Blenheim Palace, Belvoir Castle, Sherbourne IronMan and the London Triathlon.

We have a range of equipment available for use, from the specialist 'Mega Millenium' Rescue Shark to Sea Kayaks and Sit-on Kayaks.

We like to make our training sessions and trips as enjoyable and fun as possible, whilst still learning and practising the skills we need and maintaining a professional attitude to safety.

BCU Lifeguards are of all ages and we welcome any new members to our unit, whatever their ability.
